Ingredients:
Rice - 1 cup
Tamarind - large lemon size
Green chillies - 5
Red chillies - 3
Ground nuts - hand full
Cashews - 2-3 tbsp
Bengal gram (Senagapappu) - 2 tbsp
Urad dal (Minappappu) - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
Tamarind - large lemon size
Green chillies - 5

Cashews - 2-3 tbsp
Bengal gram (Senagapappu) - 2 tbsp
Urad dal (Minappappu) - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
Finely chopped ginger - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves - 2 leaflet
Asafoetida - pinch
Turmeric - 1/2 tbsp
Salt - as per taste
Oil - sufficient
Procedure:
- Wash rice and boil it.
- Now soak tamarind in warm water and set aside.
- Take a pan, heat oil and add bengal gram, urad dal, green chillies, ground nuts, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped ginger, cashews, curry leaves and stir well.
- Add turmeric, asafoetida and mix well.
- Add salt, tamarind juice to the seasoning and cook until the desired consistency is obtained (almost thick paste).
- Now switch off the flame and mix with white rice. Serve alone or with yogurt.
TIP: Sesame seeds powder or mustard seeds paste can be added to this dish to improve the flavor.
