Ingredients:
Pesara pappu (Greengram) - 1/2 cup
Onion (medium) - 1
Tomato (big) - 1
Turmeric - 1/4 sp
Green chillies - 2
Redchilly pwder - 1/2 tbsp
Lemon (small) - 1
Cotiander leaves - 2-3 tbsp
Salt - as per taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Water - 1 1/4 cup(for boiling greengram)
For seasoning(Taalimpu):
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Garlic cloves - 2-3
Curry leaves - 1-2 leaflets
Procedure:
- Wash greengram thoroughly and add in pressure cooker.
- Now chop greenchillies, onions and tomato in to large pieces and add in to the cooker.
- Add turmeric, red chilly powder, water and close the lid. Wait for 3 whistles and switch off the flame.
- After 10-15 min, open the cooker and mash the dal properly.
- Switch-on the flame, add one and half cup water, salt and mix well.
- Take a small pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, garlic cloves, curry leaves.
- Stir them for 1 min and add to the liquid mixture.
- Finally add lemon juice and garnish with finely chopped coriander.
TIP: Add lemon juice after switch-offing the flame. If added at high flame, the recipe may turn sour.
