Pesarapappu Chaaru


Ingredients:
Pesara pappu (Greengram) - 1/2 cup
Onion (medium) - 1
Tomato (big) - 1
Turmeric - 1/4 sp
Green chillies - 2
Redchilly pwder - 1/2 tbsp
Lemon (small) - 1
Cotiander leaves - 2-3 tbsp
Salt - as per taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Water - 1 1/4 cup(for boiling greengram)
For seasoning(Taalimpu):
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Garlic cloves - 2-3
Curry leaves - 1-2 leaflets
Procedure:
  1. Wash greengram thoroughly and add in pressure cooker.
  2. Now chop greenchillies, onions and tomato in to large pieces and add in to the cooker.
  3. Add turmeric, red chilly powder, water and close the lid. Wait for 3 whistles and switch off the flame.
  4. After 10-15 min, open the cooker and mash the dal properly.
  5. Switch-on the flame, add one and half cup water, salt and mix well.
  6. Take a small pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, garlic cloves, curry leaves.
  7. Stir them for 1 min and add to the liquid mixture.
  8. Finally add lemon juice and garnish  with finely chopped coriander.
TIP: Add lemon juice after switch-offing the flame. If added at high flame, the recipe may turn sour.
